Thanks for checking out this blog.
Yesterday I sat with an elderly woman as her husband was dying. These were folks that I have admired since the first time I met them. They are the sweetest couple and they have been married 70 years. As we sat and talked she shared stories about their life together and about how their relationship had worked for so long. I quickly decided to attempt to soak up every word that she spoke in an attempt to gain some wisdom and insight that will help me as I journey through life with my beautiful wife. Of course, the question is what have they done to be this succesful? The response was funny but also great...a couple of things that we don't also think about. Seperate Vacations and 2 bathrooms was the response. I am sure she would admit that there is so much more to it than these two yet these are both things that most of us think would be good ideas but would never really think them to be possible. Seems worthwhile, now, to make these possible within my marriage. I say this because I believe that whatever we aspire to be, we should find people who are those things and 'do' what they 'do' as they are obviously succesful. If I long to be married for 70 years like this couple I want to know and do what they have done to make it! This works in almost all aspects of life: parenting, finances, faith, intelligence, and marriage. We should never underestimate the education we can receive from the successful people who are all around us in life.

Enjoyed a great lunch with Sarah and Tuck in the back yard. So hard to go back to work after seeing them at lunch. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T
